OK, This is one popular theory that seems to be the most likely so far to me, let me know what you think and feel free to add, debunk or elabourate on this by leaving a comment!….

Im pretty sure that the ‘flashforward’ is something to do with ‘the desmond effect’ ie the way the Des can see glimpses of the future, I think that when Ben told Jack not to make the call he was telling the truth and that he knew something would go wrong when they left the island. Jack and Kate somehow get off the island and the ‘boat’ or helicopters or whatever they leave on takes them through some kind of time loop and something has gone wrong, the world either isnt the same or the people who left the island are getting sick or dying etc. Note Jacks line ‘Kate, we have to go back’ I think he means in time.

I havnt quite sussed out the ins and outs but I reckon somehow we will see that scene of Jack, Locke and Ben arguing and making the call again and Jack (having seen the future) will destroy the phone or something next time round. I’ve read several theories online that seem to support this and the more I think about it the more likely it seems. As for who was in the coffin and who kate had to get back to im not sure… I dont think the person she had to get back to was Sawyer though.
